Danvers Out Of Berlin

06 July 2009

Olympic bronze medallist Tasha Danvers has ruled out the possibility of competing in August’s IAAF World Championships due to an injury to her right hamstring. The injury first occurred on 10 June.

Danvers came to the decision following her most recent consultation with UKA Chief Medical Officer Dr Paul Dijkstra on Friday morning, where it was decided that there was now insufficient time for the appropriate rehabilitation and training to enable her to be competitive in Berlin. The IAAF World Championships are now just six weeks away, beginning on 15 August.

Danvers said: “Of course I am disappointed that I will be unable to compete in Berlin this summer, but I have simply ran out of time in order to be ready. The most important thing for me right now is getting back to full health again and come back stronger for 2010 and beyond.”
