With the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games looming large on Sunday, the Monaco leg of the Diamond League has less British interest than in recent weeks.

Leading the charge at the Meeting Herculis is Jess Judd (coach: Rob Denmark), who with her 1.59.77 personal best set in Oslo earlier this summer is one of eight athletes in the line-up to boast personal bests inside two minutes. Kenyan Eunice Sum currently leads the Diamond Race standings, with Judd sitting sixth courtesy of her third place finish in Oslo.

Chris Tomlinson lines up against a similarly strong long jump field, with each of the eight men in the line-up having a personal best in excess of eight metres. Tomlinson will then return to the UK to contest the Sainsbury’s Anniversary Games at Horse Guards Parade on Sunday.

Conrad Williams (Linford Christie) starts in lane eight in the men’s 400m, fresh off the back of a season’s best 45.46 performance at the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix, the last leg of the Diamond League, which took place at Hampden Park last weekend.

Monaco have put together another exceptionally strong field in the men’s 800m, with London 2012 finalist Andrew Osagie (Craig Winrow) facing five of the seven men he raced against in that final almost two years ago. With Olympic champion David Rudisha looking for a fast pace from the off, Osagie will be looking to go inside 1.45 for the first time this season as he tunes up for the Commonwealth Games and European Championships in the coming weeks.
