Directors Sought For High Performance Centres

As part of the ongoing drive to enhance the support available to our World Class athletes and their coaches, the UK Athletics (UKA) Performance Team are looking for four inspirational directors who will lead the continued development of the High Performance Centres (HiPAC).

The four HiPACs at Loughborough, Birmingham (Alexander Stadium), North London (Lee Valley) and West London (Brunel and St Mary’s), are fast developing as centres of excellence at which coaches, physiotherapists, doctors and sports science staff work collaboratively to support and develop the ‘athlete coach pair’.

UKA have worked with the English Institute of Sport (EIS) to make significant progress in establishing the HiPACs and the world leading support services needed at each centre. Directors are now being sought to provide strong leadership and ensure that an optimum athletics training environment is provided at each.

Having a director, with extensive experience in high performance sport, located at each centre will free up the coaches to do just that – coach. The HiPAC director will take responsibility for working with the EIS to ensure world class practitioners and facilities are in place to support our athletes. The HiPACs – and their supporting structure of Regional Talent Managers, who will work with Home Country colleagues to identify and recruit talent – will cater for both able bodied and disability athletes.   This process will see the further integration of our disability athletes into a world class environment, where they will be supported locally by world class coaches, mangers and support service practitioners.  Disability athletes unable to move to the HiPACs  will still be able to obtain managerial support close to their locality.
