Serita Solomon (coach: Michelle Bovell) and Shara Proctor (Rana Reider) grabbed third place finishes in Dusseldorf last night in the 60m hurdles and long jump respectively.

European 60m hurdles bronze medallist Solomon narrowly finished behind world 100m hurdles medallists Alina Talay (BLR) and Cindy Roleder (GER) in the final. Her time of 8.05 was a season best after earlier running 8.14 in the heats. Compatriot Lucy Hatton (Jerzy Maciukiewicz) finished fifth in the first heat in 8.23 which was not enough to progress to the final.

Proctor kicked off her 2016 season with a consistent series in the long jump, recording a best of 6.69m for third position. The world silver medallist from Beijing did not foul during her six jumps with her best effort coming in the first round. World bronze medallist Ivana Spanovic (SER) won the competition with a jump of 6.79m, a world lead at this early stage of the indoor season.

Desiree Henry (Reider) was given sixth place in the final after a photo finish in the women’s 60m final. Having earlier qualified with 7.32, she backed this up with a time of 7.28 in the final over an hour later.

Lawrence Clarke (Samba-Koundy Giscard) began his indoor season with times of 7.76 in the heats and 7.77 in the 60m hurdles final, the latter earning the Olympic fourth placer a 7^th place finish behind Orlando Ortega (ESP) who posted a world leading 7.49.

Elsewhere, on Tuesday, Theo Etienne (Ryan Freckleton) became the fourth fastest British teenager over 60m after posting 6.60 for second place at the Jyväskylä Indoor Gamesin Finland.
