Eligibility Rule Change

With effect from 1 August 2007 the responsibility for reviewing and determining eligibility as it relates to change of Club membership within England will be transferred from the (England) Territorial Associations to England Athletics.  As from that date the existing Territorial Eligibility Committees will be disbanded.

References in the current UKA Rules for Competition (effective from 1 April 2006) to Territorial Eligibility Committees and their functions specifically within Rule 6.1, 6.2, 6.3,and elsewhere, should therefore be deleted as from that operative date and the functions identified there transferred to the England Athletics Group as specified below. The new Rule Book, which will be effective from 1 April 2008, will mirror these changes of responsibility.

As from 1 August 2007 all applications and enquiries relating to the eligibility of athletes joining English clubs must be directed to the Athletics Services Department at Athletics House, Blythe Valley Business Park, Solihull, B90 8AJ using the standard existing forms. Athletics Services will process these applications in conjunction with a newly appointed Group, which will include the majority of those members previously serving on the three Territorial Eligibility Committees.

The existing Rules 6.5, 6.6, 6.7 and 6.8 and any related appeals processes remain in operation.

The functions and operations of the existing National Association Eligibility Committees as identified in Rule 6 are unaffected by the above mentioned re-structuring within England.

All enquiries should be referred to jtemperton@athleticsservices.org.uk
