Endurance Training Opportunity

1 February 2010

In line with the key objectives of the UKA endurance strategy, a UKA endurance camp will take place at altitude in Font Romeu, France, from 12 April through to 10 May 2010.

The camp, 1800m above sea level in the French Pyrenees, will be supported by UKA staff, coaches, physiotherapists, doctors and exercise physiologists and will involve World Class Performance Programme (WCCPP) athletes and coaches including Lisa Dobriskey and Mo Farah, and UKA ‘Futures’ funded athletes and coaches.

In addition to WCPP and ‘Futures’ athletes, UKA Endurance will support up to twenty non WCPP Great Britain & Northern Ireland team standard athletes and up to six personal coaches for up to four weeks in self catering accommodation. This opportunity includes facility access and insurance, providing an excellent opportunity for developing athletes to train with some of the more experienced and successful members of the Aviva GB&NI team. Non-funded athletes will be responsible for their own flights to Barcelona and/or Perpignon and transfer (90 mins drive) to Font Romeu.

Both three and four week options are available within the above stated dates (12 or 19 April to 3 or 10 May).

Non funded GB&NI team athlete/coach pairings interested in attending the camp will need to apply for a place through a formal application process, providing details on their main event, PB and the dates on which they would like to attend the camp.

Please contact Spencer Barden by email sbarden@uka.org.uk or phone on 07917424567 to obtain further information.

George Gandy (National Event Coach – Endurance) and Ian Stewart (Head of Endurance) will make the final decision on who will be offered the available places. The closing date for applications is 28Feb 2010.
