European Sprints And Hurdles Conference

06 November 2010

With less than one week to go, coaches are being offered a final opportunity to sign up for the 2010 European Sprints and Hurdles Conference, hosted by UKA, England Athletics and the Ron Pickering Memorial Fund, at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Hayes, London (UB3 5AW) on 13/14 November.

240 delegates have already signed up for the inaugural event which forms part of European Athletics Coaching Summit Series and builds on the success of the UKA/England Athletics Coaching Masterclass Series – which most recently included event-specific seminars with Loren Seagrave, John Smith and Bobby Kersee in August – and continues the exceptional coach development opportunities on offer in the UK.

Included within the impressive roll call of world class speakers are internationally renowned sport scientist Dr Ralph Mann, Director of USA Track & Field’s Elite Athlete Sprint and Hurdle Programme, Benke Blomkvist, former long term coach to women’s 60mH World record holder Susanna Kallur, Henk Kraaijenhof  – a coach for 35 years to high profile athletes including Olympic, World and Commonwealth medallist Merlene Ottey and Olympic and World silver medallist Sandra Farmer-Patrick, and UK-based coaches Malcolm Arnold and Dan Pfaff.

In addition to the two-day conference programme, the ‘Coaching Legends’ Gala Dinner – with speaker Tom McNab – will take place at the same venue on the evening of Saturday 13 November (6.30pm). Pre-dinner, attendees will have the opportunity to speak to some of the legends of British coaching including John Anderson, Malcolm Arnold, Tony Hadley and Ron Roddan.

Like other conferences in the European Athletics Coaching Summit Series, European Athletics Member Federations can use one or both of their allotted two coach development scholarships to cover the costs of sending coaches to attend the event. For more information about the scholarships, visit the European Athletics website

Various booking options are available for the conference weekend including an option to attend the ‘Coaching Legends’ Dinner only.
