Farah Ready For The Muller Anniversary Games

22 July 2016

Reigning double Olympic, world and European champion Mo Farah (coach: Alberto Salazar) spoke to the media ahead of competing in the 5000m at the Müller Anniversary Games tomorrow afternoon.

The IAAF Diamond League event is Farah’s last race before the Rio Olympics and the double gold medallist from London 2012 was upbeat about his preparations leading up to the Olympic Games, which are only weeks away.

He said: “Everything has gone well and I’m on the right step, it’s crazy to think that in three weeks’ time it is the Olympics.”

The London Stadium was the scene of Farah’s greatest achievements as he won the 5000m and 10,000m in front of an incredible home support and he is looking forward to competing on home soil again.

He added: “It’s nice to be back, I love London, and it’s very exciting. I walked into the stadium for the first time in a while and I got nervous thinking about how my life has changed since London 2012.

“It would be nice to win the race, but most importantly respect the guys and see what I can come away with. It’s my last race, and in the past I’ve always competed well in my last races before big championships and it gives me a massive boost.

“People take for granted going in to the Olympic championships how difficult it is to compete in two events. I have a few more key sessions I’d like to get under my belt before Rio.”

The Müller Anniversary Games get underway later today with the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, amongst those competing. Saturday’s programme will get underway with the IPC Athletics Grand Prix Final between 12-2pm before the IAAF Diamond League action between 2-5pm.
