Final Qualifying Match Of UK Challenge

The Golden Jubilee Cup and Plate Finals at Bedford International Stadium on Saturday 18 August represent the 50th and final opportunity for athletes to earn places in this summer’s UK Challenge Final at Crystal Palace on Saturday 25 August.

 

After the Jubilee action has concluded the summer-long Challenge qualifying competitions, the leading eight points accumulators in each event, from their ‘fantastic four’ Challenge competitions throughout the summer, will receive invitations to the Palace. There, the prize pot put together by UK Athletics will include the UK £5K Golden Challenge, an Alfa Romeo GT Sports Car for a year, Heidsieck & Co Monopole Champagne, cash prizes in every event – 1st £300, 2nd £150, 3rd £100, 4th £50 and 5th £25 – plus a chance to win £1 for every Challenge point under an exciting Power of 10 incentive scheme.

 

But first there’s the important matter of club glory to be settled at Bedford, where the contestants are:

 

Men’s Cup: Birchfield Harriers, Blackheath & Bromley, Enfield & Haringey, Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, Shettleston Harriers, Trafford AC, Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow, Woodford Green with Essex Ladies.

 

Women’s Cup: Birchfield Harriers, Blackheath & Bromley, Edinburgh AC, Enfield & Haringey, Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers, Trafford AC, Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow, Woodford Green with Essex Ladies.

 

Men’s Plate: Bolton, City of York, Coventry Godiva, Exeter, Herts Phoenix, North Down, Tamworth, Woking.

 

Women’s Plate: Bexley, Bingley, City of York, Crawley, Dartford, Herne Hill Harriers, Tamworth, Woking.
