FRASER FLYING THE FLAG FOR BRITISH ATHLETICS AT PRECIOUS AWARDS

British Athletics Equality, Diversity and Engagement Lead, Donna Fraser will fly the flag for British Athletics after being nominated for the Outstanding Woman in Sport award at the 12th Annual PRECIOUS Awards later this month.

Also nominated alongside Fraser is Lorna Boothe, one of the most senior black women in athletics administration and was the lead speed coach for Team England at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April.

The category recognises women who have made a positive change for women in sport across all disciplines, including those who work behind the scenes.

Whilst working for British Athletics, Fraser’s role is to embed the company values throughout UKA’s processes and policies to create a culture of inclusion, with the aim of achieving the Equality Standard in Sport Advanced Level.

She has done so by creating and leading the UKA strategy for equality and diversity while instilling the organisation values into all working practises.

Outside of her work for British Athletics, Fraser is also Breast Cancer Now ambassador and regularly takes part in activities with them to help raise awareness of the disease.

Boothe has already been named the Ambassador of Women’s Sport at the Women’s Sports Trust #BeAGameChanger Awards earlier this year.

The PRECIOUS Awards also serve to recognise the determination, innovation and talent within each of the 10 award categories and all nominations are judged by a panel of top business people.

The awards which will be held on Thursday, 27 September in London, were founded in 2007 to celebrate the achievements of women of colour in the UK and have been running annually.
