Fraser Forced To Withdraw From Gb & Ni Team

14 March 2014

Rory Fraser (coach: Art Acevedo) has had to withdraw from the GB & NI team heading out to the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Copenhagen on 29 March.

Fraser, who tops the Power of 10 rankings this year after winning the Chevron Houston Half Marathon in January with a time of 62.48 has been struggling with injury over the last few weeks leaving him unable to join up with the GB & NI team of Ben Moreau (Ken Green), Susan Partridge (Steve Jones) and Alyson Dixon at the end of the month.

On his withdrawal, the 26 year old said:

“I have been fighting an Achilles injury for a couple of weeks and although things are turning in the right direction, I’m not at a stage where I feel I am 100% fit to compete at the championships.

“Unfortunately injuries seem to happen at the most inconvenient of times, but I am now focused on ensuring I am in top shape in time for the European Championships this summer.”
