GB Athletes Draw Their Seasons To A Close

Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile, New York

 

Lisa Dobriskey (Ashford AC) won the Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile in New York with a thrilling victory to deny Shannon Rowberry a home win in the famous Big Apple road race. Dobriskey, who finished fourth in the Olympics, won in 4:18.6.

 

 

Shanghai Golden Grand Prix

 

Christine Ohuruogu (Newham & Essex Beagles) finished in fourth place on her last outing of the season in Shanghai on Sunday. The Olympic gold medallist clocked 52.30. Her team-mate Kelly Sotherton (Birchfield Harriers) came close to a lifetime best with 52.34, crossing the line just behind Ohuruogu.

 

Harry Aikines- Aryeetey (Belgrave Harriers) finished third in the 100m with 10.17, while Marlon Devonish (Coventry Godiva) and Christian Malcolm (Cardiff AC) ended their seasons with third and sixth place in the 200m clocking 20.66 and 21.06 respectively.

 

Jeanette Kwakye (Woodford Green & Essex Ladies) was third in the 100m, Veronica Campbell-Brown took first place after a poor start with 11.01.

 

Helen Clitheroe (Preston AC) switched from 3k to 1500m as she draws a close to her season. She finished third behind Gelete Burka in 4:08.36. Marilyn Okoro stepped up from the 800m to run the 1500m also with eighth position in 4.11.85.
