The Norwich Union GB women’s U20 and men’s U23 teams beat tough opposition from France and Spain to prosper in this weekend’s Combined Events International in Paris.

The team wins were heavily boosted by individual triumphs from Oliver McNeillis (Birchfield Harriers) and Katarina Thompson (Liverpool Harriers).

McNeillis produced an outstanding performance to win the U23 competition with 5604 pts. Continuing his incredible run of form, McNeillis has now improved his life time best in his last two international competitions. He is now ranked 10th on the UK all-time senior list.

Thompson took the women’s U20 title just 56 points ahead of team mate Amy Hill (City of Sheffield), finishing on 3944 pts. Thompson moves to 4th position in the 2008 UK rankings following her exciting performance, a great achievement for an U17 athlete.
