The stars of British athletics will descend on the Aviva London Grand Prix in Crystal Palace on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 July as they put the finishing touches to their Olympic preparation.

With over two-thirds of the 71-strong Team GB squad confirmed for the Aviva London Grand Prix, the prestigious two-day Samsung Diamond League event will take on even more importance than usual as Britain’s best look to hit their stride ahead of the Games.

Of around 50 British Olympians taking part at Crystal Palace, the country’s only defending Olympic Champion Christine Ohuruogu (Lloyd Cowan) will line up in the 400m whilst other leading Olympic medal hopefuls Mo Farah (Alberto Salazar), Dai Greene (Malcolm Arnold), Robbie Grabarz (Fuzz Ahmed) and Phillips Idowu (Aston Moore) will also be part of a world class field in the nation’s capital.

Fresh from having their selection confirmed, all three of Britain’s male 110m hurdles representatives, Andrew Pozzi (Malcolm Arnold), Lawrence Clarke (Malcolm Arnold) and Andy Turner (Lloyd Cowan) will take on former Olympic Champion Liu Xiang in what should be a fiercely contested battle.

All three of Great Britain’s Olympians in the men’s discus will also be in action. British record holder Lawrence Okoye (John Hillier), Abdul Buhari (Mark Wiseman) and Brett Morse (Vesteinn Hafsteinsson) will face the likes of reigning Olympic Champion Gerd Kanter at Crystal Palace.

Similarly, the full complement of Britain’s Olympians in the men’s 400m hurdles will prepare by racing at Crystal Palace. They will be led by 2011 World Champion Dai Greene who will be looking to add an Olympic gold medal to his World, European and Commonwealth titles at the London Games. His training partner Jack Green (Malcolm Arnold), who was second to Greene at the Aviva 2012 Trials, and recent European Champion Rhys Williams (Dan Pfaff), line up alongside him.

First-time Olympians Perri Shakes-Drayton (Chris Zah) and Eilidh Child (Malcolm Arnold) will face off in the 400m hurdles on Friday evening, while ten-time national javelin champion Goldie Sayers (Dan Pfaff) will compete against world-class opposition on Saturday at Crystal Palace.
