GB Team To Compete For Student Honours

The British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) have annouced a strong team of 18  student athletes chosen to represent Great Britain at the World University Games in Bangkok next month.

The  15 men and  three women will compete against students from across the world at the event in Thailand between 8th-18th August.

The team includes some of Great Britain and Northern Ireland’s most promising athletes, including European Junior 100m champion Craig Pickering who is currently studying at Bath University.

Head Coach  Callum Orr said:

“The World University Games is a prestigious event  that always attracts some of the worlds best athletes and I am delighted we are able to name such a strong team .

“The  level of competition in Bangkok will be extremely high and the experience will be good for the long term development of our athletes who are looking forward to Beijing, London and beyond.”

Men:

100m – Craig Pickering, Simeon Williamson, Ryan Scott (reserve); 200m – Simon Farenden, Darren Chin; 400m – Richard Buck; Steve Green; 800m – Michael Coultherd, Richard Hill; 10000m –Andrew Lemoncello; 110mH – William Sharman; 400mH – David Green, Ben Carne; 3000sc – Lemoncello, Jermaine Mayes; High Jump – Martyn Bernard; 4x100m – Pickering, Williamson, Farenden, Chin, Sharman, Scott; 4x400m – Buck, Green, Coulherd, Hill, Greene, Carne.

Women:

200m – Kadi Ann Thomas; 800m – Charlotte Best. ; Hammer – Zoë Derham
