Girls4gold - Could You Be The Next Hannah Cockroft?

26 November 2013

British Athletics, EIS and UK Sport Talent Team have launched Girls4Gold, an initiative which aims to identify world-class sporting talent capable of winning gold medals at future Paralympic Games.

After winning 29 medals at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the search is on to find the next crop of talent. Girls4Gold is the single most extensive female sporting talent recruitment drive ever undertaken in Great Britain and is predominantly looking to unearth females between the ages of 16-35 who use a wheelchair or are of short stature.

Paralympic Head Coach Paula Dunn said: “Great Britain & Northern Ireland continues to excel and lead the way in bringing through new talent into the system and Girls4Gold can help continue that momentum as the sport looks ahead to Rio 2016.

“We have had some great athletes progress to compete at a global level, and I’m confident that with the support of UK Sport, we can find the next Hannah Cockroft or Holly Neill, who marked her GB & NI debut at the IPC World Championships this year with a bronze medal.”

Applications are open until 12pm on Friday 24 January and you can access the form here. Please return this to Para.Talent@eis2win.co.uk.
