Golden Girl Laura Leads The Way
16 December 2007
Elated to have won a junior women’s team gold medal with the highly successful Norwich Union Great Britain & Northern Ireland team at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Toro, Spain, 16-year-old Laura Park (Ellenborough AC) led home the females of all ages in the Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10km near Ambleside, Cumbria, yesterday. She clocked 33 minutes 59 seconds and was beaten by only nine men in the field of 451. For full results, please click on langpud
Susan Partridge (Leeds City AC) clocked 33:51 in the second Great Langdale Christmas Pudding 10km today to beat all but three of her male opponents. For full results, please go to langpud2
Carly Needham (Rochdale Harriers) again showed sprightly form in the Red Rose League at Rossendale – six days after standing by as reserve for the Norwich Union GB & NI team that won the senior women’s team silver medals in Toro.
Needham finished 2 minutes 33 seconds clear of her closest rival in the senior women’s league race. It continues the excellent form she demonstrated when finishing sixth at the UK Cross Challenge meeting, incorporating the European Trials, at Liverpool last month.
