Hi

Well the Games have now begun and what a great start to the week ahead!

The whole team have been watching how Team GB are getting on and we can’t wait to join our team mates in Beijing so we can get our show on the road.

Behind Team GB

It’s not hard to get excited – there are live television feeds all around the communal areas and on the televisions in our rooms, so missing it isn’t an option. We all watched the swimming on Monday when the girls took gold and bronze, everyone was shouting – it was a great atmosphere.

Final Prep

My final javelin training sessions went really well and I’ve been very pleased with how it has gone. The practice session where I replicated competition conditions including call times and travel times etc was excellent and I threw my second longest ever throw in training – it’s all been consistent and I couldn’t have asked for more.

Fun and Games

In order to while away some time, we had a special Question of Sport team game amongst the sports in Macau. I was on a team with David Hemery, Andy Baddeley and Kelly Sotherton that won, that was great fun and took our minds off the final few days – I also think I surprised a few people with my scary amount of cricket knowledge.

The opening ceremony was really special we watched it from here and it looked really good. Lots of people have asked how London will compete in 2012 but I don’t think we need to worry – we won’t be competing  – we’ll just be different and I’m sure we’ll do us proud.

The staff here running the camp made a big fuss of the occasion for the athletes and even made a cake to celebrate which was nice of them. They’ve really made us feel at home, but it will be good to finally get to Beijing to join the athletes village.

I leave today, knowing that my teammates have already begun competing – so we’ll all hit the ground running when we arrive. This’ll be my last word before I compete so wish me luck, and I’ll speak to you after the competition.
