Iau 100km European Championships

25 April 2013

Two women will represent GB & NI at the IAU 100km European Championships in Belves, France, on Saturday 27 April.

One week on from when over 30,000 runners completed the London Marathon, Sue Harrison and Karen Rushton will run over a course the equivalent of two marathons plus an extra ten miles.

Due to the popularity of the classic 100km distance across Europe it is expected that the standard will be particularly high when the ultra-runners take to the challenging but scenic course in the Dordogne region of France with the leading women aiming for a time under eight hours.

41 year old Harrison, who finished 21st as part of the silver medal winning GB & NI women’s team in the 2011 European 100km Championships, has a personal best of 8:27:33 for the distance. Rushton, the British 50km champion, was the second Brit home in the 2012 running of this event and has a personal best of 8:16:05 from the 2011 British 100km Championships.
