Injury Rules Harvey Out Of Rio

05 August 2016

Claire Harvey, who was announced in the track and field team for ParalympicsGB last week, has had to withdraw from the team due to injury.

Harvey, who was scheduled to compete in the F55 discus, sustained a hand injury in training, which has subsequently ruled her out of the Paralympic Games, which gets underway in Rio next month.

Harvey will not be replaced in the athletics team, which now stands at 55 athletes.

British Athletics’ Paralympic Head Coach Paula Dunn said:

“It’s heart-breaking news that Claire has had to withdraw from the team so close to the Paralympic Games. She will be in everyone’s thoughts in Rio and we wish her a quick recovery.”
