IPC Classification Course

An International Classification Course will be held in the days leading up to the UKA London Disability Challenge. Details and relevant forms can be found below:

Dates:                   Tuesday 21st July 2009 – Sunday 26th July 2009

Location:             UKA London Disability Athletics Challenge 2009

                                Crystal Palace, London, UK

Sport:                    IPC Athletics

Programme:      

Arrival:                  Tuesday 21st July 2009

Theory:                Wednesday 22nd July 2009

Practical:             Thursday 23rd/Friday 24th July 2009

Observation:      Saturday 24th/Sunday 26th July 2009

Departure:          Sunday 26th/Monday 27th July 2009

 

Who can apply:

*Places are strictly limited.

* Deadline for applications – Friday 3rd July 2009

Applications are open to all potential classifiers in two key areas:

Medical:               Doctor / Physiotherapist or approved equivalent qualification

Technical:            Experienced athletics coaches (minimum of level three)

                                Sports Biomechanist

Experienced ex-athlete who has competed at a minimum of two Paralympic Games / World Championships

 

All applicants must submit:

  • Signed Application Form

  • A copy of current CV

  • UKA EOI Potential Classifier Form

  • Letter of support from National Governing Body (non-UK applicants only)

 

Selection Process

Successful applicants will be determined by UKA and will be notified by email by Thursday 9th July. The decision of UKA in this matter will be final

 

Factors to be considered will include:

  • Previous relevant experience and qualification

  • Active involvement in the sport at a National / International Level

  • Potential to be actively involved in classification both in the UK and abroad

 

Costs:

Course cost: £500                             (Cheques made payable to UK Athletics Ltd)

At the discretion of UKA successful applicants, who are UK residents, will have their course fees covered by a grant from UKA. This will be agreed on an individual basis with UKA.

Other costs:

Attendees will be responsible for all other costs associated with attending the course, including (but not limited to) accommodation, meals, and other incidental costs. Information regarding accommodation options will be made available to successful applicants
