IT'S MILLER TIME

9th June 2016

Britain’s number one hammer thrower, Nick Miller (coach: Tore Gustafsson), continues to impress after winning the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletics Association) national hammer title in Eugene, Oregon.

The Oklahoma State student recorded a distance of 73.98m with his final throw, to win the competition as part of the NCAA Division 1 Track and Field Championships.

Having previously finished in the silver medal position in 2014, Miller went one better this year to win his first NCAA title.

Carlisle born Miller had a memorable 2015 season in which he broke the British record for the hammer with a throw of 77.55m at the 2015 European Athletics U23 Championships whilst claiming gold. He then followed that up by placing a respectable eleventh at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing.

23-year-old Miller now turns his focus towards the upcoming British Championships in Birmingham on 24-26 June, where he hopes to secure his seat on the plane to Rio and the 2016 Olympics.
