Iwas Junior Championships Day Three

07 August 2014

The medal rush continued on day three of the IWAS Junior Championships as another 11 medals were added to the collection in Stoke Mandeville.

The GB & NI team took only three races before claiming their first medal as Toby Gold (Jenny Archer) broke the deadlock and secured himself a bronze medal in the U23 200m wheelchair event. The floodgates opened shortly afterwards as the team added four medals from the next three races. Buoyed on by his teammates’ bronze in the previous event Sheikh Sheikh (Archer) won bronze in the U23 T54 200m. More 200m medals followed but this time it was silver for Kyle Powell (Ryan Freckleton) who was closely followed by James Armott (Steve Endacott) in third place.

The medal count continued to rise as Jamie Carter (Archer) took bronze in the U23 wheelchair event. Will Smith (Archer) returned to the track to complete his medal collection by adding gold in the U23 T54 800m to his silver and bronze medals he picked up earlier in the week and was joined on the podium by bronze medallist Nathan Maguire (Ste Hoskins).

Another GB & NI podium double was also achieved in the field as the U23 shot put pairing of Panagiotis Mamuneas (Jim Edwards) and Joshua Clark (Anthony Hughes) took gold and bronze respectively.

Back on the track, Polly Maton (Colin Baross) sealed U23 200m gold and 13 year old Kare Adenegan (Job King), who won U23 wheelchair 800m silver.
