Jackson Targeting Another British Record

5 September 2008

Jo Jackson (Redcar RWC) will go in search of yet another British Record at the McCain UK Race Walking Challenge Final at Lee Valley on Saturday 6 September. Fresh from a magnificent British Record and 22nd place in Beijing Jackson will be the overwhelming favourite for UKA and RWA 10km titles. The British record of 44.52 she set earlier in the season at Sheffield will also be in her sights. Jackson also has a commanding lead in the UK Race Walking Challenge over Dianne Bradley and Niobie Menendez.

In the men’s 10 km the current leader Daniel King (Colchester Harriers) will be looking to finish off a solid season for him that began with personal best over 20km and an Olympic B standard over 50km.

His main competition will come from his twin brother Dominic King (Colchester Harriers), Junior Ben Wears (Redcar RWC), improving Brendan Boyce (Coventry Godiva Harriers/Ireland).

The next two in the UK Challenge rankings: Scott Davies (Ilford Harriers) and Mark Williams (Tamworth AC) will look to capitalise if he falters. The action gets underway at 13.00 with an open 3km followed by the 10km at 14.00 on the roads around the Pickets Lock HIPAC.
