Jenny Meadows' Diary

04 March 2009

Well I have just finished my last ‘major’ training session ahead of the European Indoor Champs. I feel a mixture of excitement and pre-events nerves.  There is nothing more I can do now!  Let’s hope my legs can do all the talking.  The next few days will be spent catching up with my physiotherapist and masseur and making sure I eat well and get enough rest.

We fly out of Gatwick as a team on Wednesday.  It’s always nice to travel as a team.  Turin will mark my 12th Senior Major Championship but it does not matter how many times I have represented GB & NI, I always have an overwhelming sense of pride on doing so. Once arriving at the hotel in Turin it is usually a case of doping control followed by getting familar with the hotel and competition facilities.  I always feel better once I have checked out the call room procedures and at least had a glance of the track, with preferably the chance to jog around the track to assess the steepness of the bends.

I have home support following to Turin with me in the form of my Husband & Coach Trev and my ever supportive Mum, Barbara. My event gets underway on Friday with the heats followed by the semi-finals taking place on the Saturday and the Final on the Sunday.

Wish me well!
