Congratulations to 21-year-old British Heptathlete Jessica Ennis, who has won the inaugural female European Athletics Rising Star Award, which will be presented as part of the European Athletics Calendar Conference in Malta on Friday 12 October.

The Rising Star Award is a new initiative by European Athletics designed to recognise outstanding achievers along their journey of development towards senior athletes.

Italian Long Jumper Andrew Howe won the male European Athletics Rising Star Award.
