UKA announced today that the Strategic Head of Coaching and Development, Kevin Tyler, has decided to leave his post in order to return to Canada with his family.

Tyler, alongside his team and colleagues in the home countries, has made superb progress in recent years to put in place what has been described as the “secret legacy” of the 2012 Games – a fully revamped UK coach education system, supported by world class coaching resources, such as UKA’s online home of coach education – uCoach. 

In 2011, UKA was honoured as Sports Coach UK’s “Coaching Governing Body of the Year” in recognition of the fantastic work done by Tyler and his team in developing the new coach education system.

Tyler, who will remain at UKA until the end of December, said:

"It has been a privilege to work with UKA over these past four years in the build up to a home Games.There has been a significant level of investment in coach development and education, and it has been great that UKA has prioritised this area.

“The launch of uCoach has demonstrated the long term ambitions of ensuring the best expertise is not lost, and I have been proud to work alongside fantastic staff and strong home country development teams, who will ensure the great achievements of the past four years are continued.”

UKA Chief Executive Niels de Vos said,

“I would like to thank Kevin for his valued work at UKA, and wish him and his family the very best in the future. We have been very fortunate to have had an individual of Kevin’s calibre leading this vital work and establishing such an impressive platform which will safeguard the future of athletics coaching in the UK.

“We will now start the process of finding Kevin’s successor, as we look to build towards Rio 2016 in the next four year cycle.”
