Garbsen Jumps Meet, May 20

Martyn Bernard (Coach: Dan Pfaff) won with a leap of 2.28m, to go third in the McCain Power of Ten rankings. A jump of 2.28m equals the Olympic qualifying B standard and is the best outdoor mark by a Briton  this summer.

BUPA Manchester 10km, May 20
Charlotte Purdue (Coach: Mick Woods) produced the British performance of the day to finish fourth in 32:13, just three seconds off her PB. Olympic Marathon prospect Mara Yamauchi ran a quick 32:28 in sixth.
Neil Burton was the leading Briton in tenth in 29:31, with his first sub-30 10km.

Powerade ManchesterCity Games, May 20
Jessica Ennis (Coach: Toni Minichello) made a sensational outdoor hurdles debut for 2012, when it appeared she had smashed her PB with 12.75, in defeating Olympic champion Dawn Harper, though it later transpired the race was a set of hurdles short.
World bronze medallist Andrew Turner (Lloyd Cowan) was fourth in the 110m hurdles in 14.16 but he won the 200m hurdles in 22.54 to finish two metres up on former Olympic 400m hurdles champion Felix Sanchez.
Christian Malcolm won the 100m in 10.46. Holly Bleasdale ( Julien Raffalli-Ebezant) was second in the pole vault with 4.43m, an outdoor best for 2012 which places her second in the UK outdoor rankings.

Bristol 10km, May 20
Ethiopian-born Getenesh Tamarate won in a fast 33:26 to win with GB Marathon international Holly Rush (Coach: Martin Rush) was second in 34:35.
Paul Richardson was the first British man in 29:49 in fourth.

McCain Young Athletes League, Horsham, May 20
England under 17 indoor champion shot champion Kai Jones (Coach: Lukasz Barzyk) threw the furthest by an under 17 to head the McCain Power of Ten outdoor rankings with a 17.21m throw.

Diamond League, Shanghai, May 19
Former World triple jump champion Phillips Idowu (Aston Moore) showed great early season form in his first competition of 2012 in very wet conditions to win in an Olympic A standard (17.20) with 17.24m/0.7 and go top of the McCain Power of Ten rankings.
Barbara Parker (Sean Burris) was eighth in the 3000m steeplchase in 9:40.16 to go top of the POT rankings in that event and she set an Olympc A standard (9:43).

BMC Manchester, May 19
Jo Pavey (Gavin Pavey) won the 5000m in an Olympic A qualifying 15:14.19 to go top of the UK women’s 5000m rankings
Kate Avery (Robert Ashwood) finished second in a PB 15:43.78.
There was a big breakthrough for Ross Murray (Craig Winrow) to set an Olympic B standard (3:38.00) with 3:36.69, his first ever sub-3:40 clocking. That puts him third in the 1500m rankings.
European junior 1500m finalist Charlie Grice (Jon Bigg) missed his PB by an agonising 0.01 but his 3:42.97 was well inside the World junior 1500m standard (3:44.00) and puts him top of the Under 20 rankings.
Laura Weightman (Steve Cram) won her women’s 1500m in 4:09.42. 2011 World youth medallist at 800, Jessica Judd (Jeremy Freeman) was second in 4:15.12, which is well inside the World junior standard (4:18.00) and that puts her top of the Under 20 rankings.

Halle, May 19
Lawrence Okoye (John Hillier) carried on his sensational form when he finished third in a top class competition and smashed his British record with a 68.24m throw. This puts him top of the McCain Power of Ten rankings and places him third in the world lists for 2012.

After, Okoye said:

"It was special for me to produce a throw of that calibre. I’ve got to keep pushing on, keep throwing far. I backed that up today with a good 65m. I’ve got a week of training next week, no competitions so I will put some more hard work in and hopefully come back strong again in a couple of weeks.

"I believe there’s lots more (distance). I’m still in heavy training at the moment. The Olympics aren’t for 11 weeks so there is a lot more work to do. I’ve got to keep working hard, get my head down and I’m sure that come August I‘ll be able to throw pretty far, close to my best if not better."

2011 Aviva and World trials discus champion Abdul Buhari (Mark Wiseman) showed good form with 61.22m in ninth.
Mark Dry (Derek Evely) showed good form in the hammer with 73.88m, his second best ever throw. Top ranked Alex Smith (Shane Peacock) couldn’t match his 75.63m form of the winter and he was 10th in 71.68m.
Eden Francis (Glenys Morton) won the B shot competition and her 16.51m was the best outdoor mark in the UK this year.
British record holder in the hammer, Sophie Hitchon (Evely) was again over 70m in the hammer and her 70.09m placed her fourth.

Clermont, May 19
Former Olympic finalist Abi Oyepitan (Coach: Tony Lester) continued her good form to set her fastest 200m time since the 2004 Olympics, though the wind denied her a qualifying time.
Her 22.57 in second place was fractionally over the limit at 2.1mps. Her best legal mark this year is 23.15 which tops the McCain Power of Ten rankings. The Olympic A standard is 23.10. The wind also denied her an Olympic A standard (11.29) at 100m where she timed 11.21/2.6 but she did achieve a legal 11.37/0.0 in another race and set an Olympic B standard (11.38).

Inter-Counties Fell Championships19 May
Northern Cross Country Champions dominated the first race in the McCain Mountain Running Series in Goyt Valley, Derbyshire. Commonwealth champion Lizzie Adams celebrated her 26th birthday in fine style by taking eight minutes off the course record and leading Yorkshire to their eighth team title. Sarah McCormack (Scotland East) was second with twice former winner Olivia Walwyn-Bush (Cheshire) in third. Scotland East and Lancashire were second and third respectively in the team competition.Steve Vernon (Greater Manchester) won a closely contested race from Chris Smith (Middlesex), who also finished second last year. This was Vernon’s first Inter-Counties fell title. Andi Jones finished third helping Greater Manchester to retain their seventh team title. Yorkshire and Lancashire were second and third respectively with Middlesex placing a surprising 4th.

Eagle Rock, May 18
Mo Farah (Coach: Alberto Salazar) produced one of the greatest ever multi distance performances on the same day in history when he won the 1500m in 3:34.66 to go of the McCain Power of Ten rankings and a hour later won the 5000m in another ranking topping and world class 13:12.87. It had only been his intention to run part of the longer race.
in the 5000m, Rory Fraser (Art Acevedo) just missed his PB of 13:27.70 with 13:27.87. In the 1500m, Kris Gauson (Matt Roe) set a PB in eighth behind Farah with 3:39.08.
In the 3000m steeplechase, Rob Mullett (Dave Leach) improved his PB to 8:31.62 to finish ninth and extend his lead on top of the POT/UK rankings.
