Two of the world’s best long jumpers have today been confirmed as part of a stellar long jump field for this year’s Müller Anniversary Games.

London 2017 IAAF World Championships gold medallist Luvo Manyonga (RSA), joined by 2018’s winner at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Juan Miguel Echevarría (CUB) are two of the global stars confirmed as part of the competitive men’s long jump field.

Shortly after announcing himself on the global stage in February 2018 by winning gold at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Echevarría stunned the world by nearly jumping the full length of the pit at the IAAF Diamond League Meeting in Stockholm last June with a world-leading and marginally win-assisted 8.83m (+2.1) – the longest jump in the world for some 23 years.

As well as fans being treated to seeing the Cuban attempt another series of huge jumps, current Commonwealth and World champion Manyonga, 28, will be joined by his South African teammate and fellow London 2017 medallist Ruswahl Samaai (RSA) as well as current European indoor and outdoor champion Miltiadis Tentoglou (GRE) this summer when he aims to claim some scalps at the London Stadium.

The home crowd will have the chance to support British long jumper Dan Bramble (coach: Jonas Dodoo, club: Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers), who is also confirmed for the men’s long jump competition next weekend alongside Commonwealth silver medallist Henry Frayne (AUS), 2014 Commonwealth silver medallist Zarck Visser (RSA), Tajay Gayle (JAM), Darcy Roper (AUS) and Trumaine Jefferson (USA).

The Müller Anniversary Games takes place just ten weeks before the IAAF World Championships in Doha.

The two-day Diamond League event has seen history made on numerous occasions in recent years, with some memorable performances from British names such as Sir Mo Farah, Laura Muir and Dina Asher-Smith, while para athletics stars Kare Adenegan and Sophie Hahn both broke world records at the 2018 edition of the event.
