Mark Lewis-francis Injury Update

25 February 2011

Following a medical assessment, UKA can confirm that European and Commonwealth 100m silver medallist Mark Lewis-Francis has a grade 3 injury to his Adductor Longus tendon in his groin.

The injury occurred during the 60m heats at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on 19 February and Lewis-Francis will now undergo a rehabilitation process under the guidance of the UKA medical team.

At this stage there is no exact timeframe for his return to action but his sole focus is on rehabilitation back to full fitness.

He said: “After such a successful season in 2010 it’s disappointing to pick up this injury, but I am confident that with my support network around me including the UKA medical team and my coach Linford (Christie), I will be able to make a full recovery and look forward to an exciting outdoor season.“
