More British athletes were in action at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Paris, with victories coming in the club throw events.

Multi-global medallist Stephen Miller (Ros Miller) won the men’s F32 club throw with a best effort of 30.07m as he prepares for the WPA European Championships later this summer. With a consistent series between 28 and 29.5 metres, it was a last round throw that moved him over the 30m barrier.

There was a season’s best for Gemma Prescott (Mike Wood) as she won the women’s F32 club throw competition. Her mark of 17.75m in round one secured the victory, with an effort of 17.65m also backing up that earlier effort. Elsewhere, Abbie Hunnisett (Mark Hunnisett) threw a best of 12.92m in the event.

In the endurance events, Jack Gladman (T3*) (Andy Coleman) represented the British athletes, clocking 4:36.73 5^th in mixed category 1500m.

For a number of British athletes, it was their first taste of international competition, with Guildford and Goldalming’s Ali Smith (T38) (Paul MacGregor) winning the 200m in 29.16 (-0.3 m/s) which was just 0.06 seconds outside her personal best. Bethany Tucker (T37) (Mark Lodge) was third in 32.38.

The following day Smith ran a time of 13.83 (-1.3) with Tucker coming home in 14.90 in third and fourth respectively.

Eastbourne’s Jahziah Williams (Barry Morris) raced in the men’s equivalent, clocking 27.90 for third place overall in the 200m. Over the 100m, he was fifth in a time of 13.28 (+1.5).

After a disqualification in the 200m on Thursday, there was better news for Amar Aichoun (Lumar Sylvester) over 100m, as the Commonwealth finalist raced well for second, recording a time of 12.08.

There was a third-place finish in the ambulant discus for Amy Wareing (Jim Edwards) – the F38 athlete throwing a best of 25.85m in round three.
