At Friday’s Annual General Meeting, the UK Members Council (UKMC) announced the appointment of Toni Minichiello as the Senior Coaches Representative after the closure of the ballot.

With over 30 years of coaching experience, Minichiello is most well-known for coaching Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill to Olympic gold at London 2012, silver in 2016 and a multitude of other global titles including three IAAF World Championship heptathlon titles.

Minichiello holds an honorary Doctorate from the University of Sheffield for his services to coaching and was awarded the SCUK Sports Coach of the Year in 2012 after the triumph at the home Games. He continues to work across the coaching spectrum, from U15s to developing Olympians.

President of UK Athletics, Jason Gardener, commented on the appointment:

“I welcome Toni to the UK Members Council and we look forward to seeing him bring his experience to the forum as the Senior Coaches Representative. A lifelong servant to the sport with over 30 years’ worth of coaching knowledge and experience, Toni will be a valuable addition to the Council.”
