The athletics fixtures keep on coming as several British athletes are competing at the Wanda Diamond League in Lausanne on Friday evening (26 August).

World, European and Commonwealth medallist, Laura Muir (Andy Young, Dundee Hawkhill) is back on the track as she steps up to the 3000m (19:43 BST) in Switzerland. A week after retaining her European title in Munich, she will face a strong field over the seven and a half laps.

European silver medallist Jake Heyward (Mark Rowland, Cardiff) will be joined by Olympic silver medallist Josh Kerr (Danny Mackey, Edinburgh), and fellow European finalists, Matthew Stonier (Chris and Sonia McGeorge, Invicta East Kent) and Neil Gourley (Ben Thomas, Giffnock North) over 1500m (19:33). The British quartet will face European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR) and 2019 world champion, Timothy Cheruiyot (KEN).

4x400m relay gold medallist, Charlie Dobson (Benke Blomkvist) has a lane in the men’s 200m (20:42), a distance he finished in fourth at the European Championships. The Colchester athlete has broken new ground in 2022, clocking a PB of 20.19, and a wind-assisted lifetime best of 19.99.

Jodie Williams (Stuart McMillan, Herts Phoenix), the Commonwealth bronze medallist, goes in the women’s 400m (20:31), where she will face world medallists from Eugene, Marileidy Paulino (DOM) and Sada Williams (BAH).

A highly competitive men’s 1500m wheelchair race (18:48) is shaping up to be one of the races of the meeting as home favourite Marcel Hug takes on four British athletes. Commonwealth champion Nathan Maguire (Ste Hoskins, Kirkby), and silver medallist Daniel Sidbury (Christine Parsloe, Sutton & District) join the field, as does Paralympic Games legend David Weir (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy), and Dillon Labrooy (Jenny Archer, Weir Archer Academy).

In the non Diamond League races, Jemma Reekie (Andy Young, Kilbarchan) and George Mills (Brighton Phoenix) go in the women’s (19:12) and men’s 800m (17:10) respectively.
