Athletics has once again being recognised in the New Year’s Honours List 2014.

Dave Bedford and Mark Shearman have been awarded an OBE and an MBE for their services to athletics and sports photography.

The New Year’s Honours List is published in recognition of the achievements and service of extraordinary people across the United Kingdom.

Dave Bedford has been instrumental in gathering the world’s best athletes on the streets of London for the London Marathon as Race Director of the event from 2002 to 2012.

Mark Shearman is the official photographer for British Athletics and Athletics Weekly. Since the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Mark has not missed a major athletics event including Olympic Games and World Championships.

Michael Dooling, Shona Malcolm and John Roberts have also been honoured for athletics services in their communities.
