New York Diamond League

The sixth stage of the IAAF Diamond League will kick off in New York tomorrow with a number of British athletes in action.

Christine Ohuruougu (coach: Lloyd Cowan) will get her 400m season underway as the World Champion goes head-to-head with World Indoor gold medallist Francena McCorory, London 2012 bronze medallist DeeDee Trotter, as well as GB & NI teammate Shana Cox (George Williams).

James Ellington (Rana Reider) will make his first appearance on the circuit this season as he lines up in the 200m against the likes of Olympic 200m bronze medallist Warren Weir, as well as Nickel Ashmeade and Alonso Edward, who currently lead the Diamond Race standings in the event.

World 100m hurdles bronze medallist Tiffany Porter (Reider) will face a tough line up including World Indoor 60m hurdles Nia Ali and London 2012 silver medallist Dawn Harper-Nelson.

Michael Rimmer (Jon Bigg) will be looking to improve his best outing this year (1:48.42) as he takes to a world-class field, which includes Olympic Champion and world record holder David Rudisha as well as Duane Solomon the second fastest man over the distance in 2014.

Olympic finalist Julia Bleasdale will lead British hopes in the 3000m with world silver medallist Mercy Cherono in a highly contested field.

The Diamond League will make two visits to the UK with the Sainsbury’s Glasgow Grand Prix hosting the world’s best athletes on July 11-12 followed by the Sainsbury’s Birmingham Grand Prix on August 24. You can purchase tickets here
