In wet and blustery conditions, the third leg of the IAAF Diamond League continued at the Adidas Grand Prix in New York this evening.

Andrew Osagie (coach: Craig Winrow) was one of highlights of the British athletes competing at the Icahn Stadium as the Olympic finalist held off a strong field to finish in second place (1:46.44) behind Olympic champion David Rudisha (1:45.14), who made it two successive victories on the IAAF Diamond League circuit this season.

After finishing in sixth place at the opening IAAF Diamond League in Doha, British record holder Shara Proctor (Rana Reider) finished in second place in the long jump with a best jump of 6.72m – just seven centimetres behind Janay Deloach, who set a meeting record on her way to victory.

Amantle Montsho, who set a world-leading time of 49.88 at the opening IAAF Diamond League in Doha, took the victory in the 400m once again as she set another meet record clocking a time of 49.91. The current IAAF Diamond League champion continued her early season form, as she finished ahead of Natasha Hastings (50.24), while GB & NI’s Olympic silver medallist Christine Ohuruogu (Lloyd Cowan) finished back in seventh in a time of 52.08.

In the women’s 400m B race, European Indoor 4x400m gold medallist Shana Cox (George Williams) ran 52.01 to take second behind Jamaica’s Patricia Hall.

Current Power of 10 leader Michael Bingham (George Williams) finished in 5th place in the 400m crossing the line in 46.19 in a race won by Josh Mance in 45.59.  

Fresh from securing the 1500m qualification standard for the Commonwealth Games, Eilish McColgan (Liz McColgan) stepped up to the 3000m steeplechase to finish in eighth place in a time of 9:45.66 – just over two seconds outside the qualification standard for the World Championships.

After clearing her opening height of 4.23m on her third attempt European Indoor pole vault Champion Holly Bleasdale pulled out of the competition after the first round. In what proved to be difficult conditions for the field, it was Olympic champion Jenn Suhr who took the victory with a best clearance of 4.63m.
