Next Stop Crystal Palace

Aviva UKA Academy Training sessions with David Weir and Michael Rimmer.

Ambassador for the Aviva UKA Academy David Weir will be hosting the next masterclass for competition  winners on Tuesday 21 July at Crystal Palace, three days ahead of the Aviva London Grand Prix.

There are still a few places up for grabs for 8-15 year olds to meet the Double Paralympic Champion and World Record Holder David Weir, from 5.00pm and enjoy a look behind the scenes at Crystal Palace. Entries must be received by midday on Monday 20 July.

On the same day, Britain’s 800m specialist Michael Rimmer will be hosting a session in his home town of Liverpool.

In the last few weeks, lucky competition winners have met Olympic Champion Christine Ohuruogu, World Number 1 Heptathlete Jess Ennis, British Record Holder Kate Dennison and many other GB & NI team athletes.

Maya Mohindra, from Ilford met Christine Ohuruogu, she said:

“It’s not every day you meet an Olympic Champion. I always get nervous before a race, but she told me to focus on how I run and never give up until the end, when you cross the line. It was amazing to meet her! I’m hoping to join an athletics club now and take part in Startrack in the holidays.”

There are 12 sessions being held across the UK, with a new venue being added for Perth, Scotland soon. The Aviva UKA Academy is the new umbrella brand for all Aviva sponsored UKA grassroots programmes.
