Rabat will stage the first ever IAAF Diamond League in Africa today, with Morocco welcoming some of the world’s best to take part in the third leg of the Diamond Race.

Robbie Grabarz (coach: Fuzz Caan) will continue his Diamond League campaign after a fourth place finish in Doha a fortnight ago. The World Indoor silver medallist will face a strong field in Rabat including World indoor gold medallist Gianmarco Tamberi and 2013 world champion Bohdan Bondarenko. With a season’s best of 2.33m from the Briton, it is set to be a tight contest in the capital city.

Shelayna Oskan-Clarke (Jon Bigg) and Lynsey Sharp (Rana Reider) will feature in a stacked women’s 800m field. At last year’s world championships in Beijing, Oskan-Clarke enjoyed a breakthrough to finish fifth in the final with a new PB, 1:58.86. After opening her outdoor season with a 2:01.04 clocking for fifth in Doha, she will be seeking to continue her progress in Morocco. Sharp, third on the UK all-time list for the distance, will also be a major contender in a line-up which includes world leader Caster Semenya and world champion Marina Arzamasova.

After a breakthrough 2015, Rabah Yousif (Carol Williams) is included in the men’s 400m alongside America’s LaShawn Merritt, a former Olympic and world champion. In the long jump, Dan Bramble (Frank Attoh) will be return to the Diamond League circuit after finishing eighth in Shanghai last week.
