NINE SET TO #REPRESENT AT THE IAU 24HR EUROPEANS THIS WEEKEND

A team of nine will represent the country at the IAU 24 Hour European Championships this weekend, taking on the challenge of endurance in Timisoara, Romania.

Reigning European champion Dan Lawson headlines the squad alongside two other members of the silver medal winning men’s team from 2016; Steve Holyoak and Patrick Robbins. Marco Consani has withdrawn due to injury so is replaced by James Elson, and he will also join Craig Holgate and James Stewart to complete the team of six.

Brighton’s Lawson covered a total of 162 miles on his way to the gold medal almost two years ago, and will fancy his chances again this time around on the continental stage.

Alison Young was part of the British team which finished sixth at the world championships in Belfast last summer, individually placing 26th covering a distance of 214,760km. She will be joined by Tracey Dean and Wendy Shaw.

Jess Baker and Adela Salt have both withdrawn from the squad.
