Ninthrecord For Dennison

16 September 2009

Kate Dennison (Sale) broke the British pole vault record for the ninth time this year with a 4.60m effort at the Pedros Cup in Poland yesterday, Tuesday 15 September.

Dennison, who bettered her own record by two centimetres to finish third behind World Champion Anna Rogowska, has undoubtedly had the season of her life since first breaking Janine Whitlock’s indoor record at the Aviva European Indoor Trails and UK Championships in February.

The Loughborough University based athlete, who finished  sixth at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin, said: “It was a great way to end the season and if I’m honest maybe I would have been disappointed to end on 58. Psychologically now I can get myself ready for jumping 4.70m plus next year.”

“I’m going to New York and Miami now to have a break and spend some of the money!”
