UK Athletics today named the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland Junior Team for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships to be staged in Mombasa, Kenya, on 24 March.

Junior Men:

Lee Carey (Nuneaton Harriers), Adam Hickey (Southend on Sea AC), Ben Lindsay (Pendle AC), Andrew Livingstone (Thurrock Harriers), Conor McNulty (Kilbarchan AAC), Jon Pepper (Enfield and Haringey). Res: David Forrester (St Helens Sutton AC). 

Junior Women:

Jess Coulson (Stockport Harriers), Sian Edwards (Kettering Town Harriers), Olivia Kenney (Royal Sutton Coldfield AC), Emily Pidgeon (Gloucester AC), Charlotte Purdue (Aldershot, Farnham and District AC), Stevie Stockton (Vale Royal AC). Res: Non Stanford (Swansea Harriers).

Steph Twell, who was pre-selected, has withdrawn with a leg injury that has developed since she won the European Junior title and enjoyed success against seniors at the turn of the year. Although she is well on the way to recovery, she acknowledges she would not be at her best in time for the World Cross and believes a greater priority is to continue to receive treatment that will ensure she is fully fit for the summer season. UK Athletics fully supports her decision.
