Ohuruogu And Weir To Attend UK Awards Dinner

Olympic and Paralympic Gold Medalists Christine Ohuruogu and David Weir have confirmed their attendance for the UKA Awards Dinner supported by Heidsieck & Co Monopole champagne.

 

The event, takes place at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull on Saturday 29 November, to recognise the 2008 award winners from across the sport.

 

Recently retired Commonwealth Champion Dean Macey will be present, plus Kelly Sotherton, Danny Crates, Jess Ennis, Christian Malcolm and a host of other Olympians and Paralympians plus some emerging talent to watch out in the build up to 2012.

 

Sir Trevor Brooking – Director of Development at the FA is the Guest speaker and Olympic Bronze medalist Katharine Merry will host the evening, which concludes the 2008 UK Awards programme.

 

Trevor Brooking has a long association with British sport and working with the BBC. He was Chair of Sport England for 4 years, after becoming the first Chair of the Lottery Panel in 1995 and later joined the FA as Director of Football Development.

 

The awards will comprise; Club of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Official of the Year, Coach of the Year and Team or partnership of the Year amongst many others The nominations have been put forward by each of the Home Country Associations, following the regional awards.
