Paralympic and European T44 100m gold medallist Jonnie Peacock (coach: Dan Pfaff) will be among 130 athletes competing at the Newham Parallel Success on Sunday 10 July.

Peacock, who regained his European crown in Grosseto last month, will look to continue his recent form as he targets a place on the team for the Paralympic Games in Rio in September.

The event, hosted by Active Newham will feature no fewer than 19 athletes who competed for the British team at last year’s IPC Athletics World Championships including T34 duo Mel Nicholls (Job King) and Kare Adenegan (King), who won silver and bronze respectively in the 800m in Doha.

Mo Jomni (Jenny Archer), who trains alongside David Weir at the Weir Archer Academy will also be looking to continue his meteoric rise after his T53 200m bronze in the Middle East and two silvers and a bronze at the recent IPC European Athletics Championships. Abbie Hunnisett (Anthony Hughes) has also been in impressive form matching Jomni’s performance winning bronze in the F32/51 club throw in Doha having added over two metres to her lifetime best between 2014 and 2015.

Also starring in Newham is Invictus Games champion and T42 200m European silver medallist David Henson (Roger Keller), who has stormed up the world rankings after running 24.71 in Arizona in May, which places him third behind South Africa’s Ntando Mahlangu and Paralympic, world and European champion Richard Whitehead.

After an injury-hit 2015, Paralympic T44 long jump silver medallist Stef Reid (Aston Moore) has started her outdoor season in strong fashion, most recently jumping 5.43m at the British Championships – four centimetres off her lifetime best. Reid will be joined by her husband, Canada’s 14-time global medallist, who will lock horns once again with Paralympic gold medallist Mickey Bushell (Jenny Archer), who is also on the comeback trail after a long spell on the sidelines.

After winning T54 200m gold and three silver medals in the 100m, 400m and 800m in Grosseto, Richard Chiassaro (Jenni Banks) will head to the London borough full of confidence after his breakthrough display at the Europeans.

Libby Clegg (Joe McDonnell, Chris Clarke (guide) will be hoping for a similar return to her last visit to Newham. The Commonwealth Games T12 100m gold medallist rewrote her four year old lifetime best earlier this month running 12.11 at the Active Newham Series and will be determined to go even quicker this weekend.
