Paralympic Marks For British Flyers

Two more British athletes secured Paralympic qualification marks at last weekend’s German Championships in Singen. John McFall secured T42 100m mark by clocking 12.77 and Katherine Deal bagged the T13 800m mark with a fine run of 2:18.86.

It was a successful weekend for the 24-strong team highlighted by some outstanding performances from sprinters Graeme Ballard, Ben Rushgrove and Katrina Hart.

Ballard and Rushgrove enjoyed two superb battles in the T36 100m and 200m competitions. Rushgrove just had the edge in both events, taking the 100m in 12.45, just 0.07 clear of his team-mate. It was even tighter in the 200m, with Rushgrove just prevailing by one-hundredth-of-a-second in 25.27.

In the women’s T37 200m, Katrina Hart produced a storming run to take victory. Unfortunately, no time was recorded due to a fault in the system, however, meeting officials in photo-finish estimated the time to be inside the European record of 30.64.
