UK Athletics has today named a team of four athletes to compete at the IAAF World Road Running Championships next month.

Louise Damen (Winchester & District), Wendy Nicholls (Cirencester AC), Jo Pavey (Exeter Harriers) and Michelle Ross-Cope (City of Stoke) will compete over the half marathon distance on Sunday 14 October.

Pavey, who doubled up at the World Championships in Osaka over 5000 and 10000m, is set to compete at the Great North Run on 30 September just two weeks before the championship in Udine, Italy.

UK Athletics Senior Performance Manager for Endurance Alan Storey said: “Jo has shown herself to be in excellent form, and I am pleased she has made herself available for selection.

“Providing she feels she has recovered sufficiently from the Great North Run, she will make an invaluable contribution to the Norwich Union GB team competing in Italy.”
