Radcliffe Leaves Options Open

Paula Radcliffe may make herself available for the Norwich Union Great Britain and Northern Ireland team for next year’s World Cross Country Championships.

It could mean Radcliffe chasing a third World Cross Country title when Edinburgh hosts next year’s event.

Much will depend on whether the 33-year-old who returned to action in last month’s Great North Run decides to contest a spring marathon.

Radcliffe, currently training at Font Romeu in the French Pyrenees, said:

“That’s definitely an option, I think especially because it’s in Edinburgh.

"It depends I think on whether I do another spring marathon or not.  I haven’t, to be honest, looked at the difference between them if that were an option."

Radcliffe is determined to make sure preparations for next year’s Olympic Games go well after dropping out in Athens three years ago. But she reiterated that she will make no decisions about any future competitions until after her New York outing where she will run her first marathon since winning the World Championship gold in August 2005.
