Regional/National Awards: Make Your Votes Count!

Who’s your best coach, official, volunteer and club? We want to know!

Friday 31 August is the deadline for you to make nominations for this year’s UK Awards Programme sponsored by Heidsieck & Co Monopole Champagne.

A total of 204 awards are to be made throughout the nine England Athletics regions plus Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales over the next two months.

Awards are being made in all of the aspects that, between them, keep the premier Olympic sport rolling along … coaches, officials, volunteers, clubs and partnerships. And they are spread through all of the vital categories, as follows:

Club – four awards for (a) Track and Field, (b) Off Track, (c) Junior and (d) Inclusivity;

Volunteer – three awards for (a) Young Volunteer; (b) Club Volunteer; (c) Services to Club Development;

Official – three awards for (a) Newcomer to Officiating; (b) Off Track Official; (c) Track and Field Official;

Coaches – four awards for (a) Participation; (b) Performance; (c) Podium; (d) Services to Coaching Development.

Team / Partnership – three awards for (a) Local Authority; (b) Athletics Partnership; (c) Services to Officiating.

Following the Regional/National Awards evenings,, each of the four Home Countries will nominate one candidate in each of the five categories – Club, Official, Volunteer, Coach and Partnership – for UK Awards to be presented during the UK Congress on Saturday 1 December.

So your local heroes could become national stars! But first, you need to vote…

UK Athletics Head of Athletics Development Andy Paul said: “We are well aware that for every athlete, there’s a ‘backroom team’ and this is the opportunity for everyone in our sport to bid to reward the coaches, officials, volunteers and clubs who do that little bit more to make the difference.”
