British athletes are continuing to perform strongly in the approach to the Olympic Games, with Martyn Rooney (Croydon Harriers) leading the way at the Monaco Grand Prix on Tuesday night.

Rooney continued where he left off on Saturday – once again dipping under the 45 second barrier in an impressive win over a strong field with 44.72 secs.

At the same meet, Michael Rimmer (Liverpool PS) showed he is continuing to grow in confidence with 6th place in the 800m – his time of 1.44.68 confirming he is back to his best; whilst Mo Farah (Newham & Essex) finished strongly in the men’s 3000m in 7.39.55 for 8th position.

There was also a strong showing in the high jump by Martyn Bernard (Wakefield), with 2.28m for 4th place.

Finally, at the BMC Gold standard meet at Stretford, Lisa Dobriskey (Ashford), running in a mixed race ran a superb 4.00.64 for 1500m.
