Runbritain Grand Prix
10 May 2011
The five-race series, which concludes in October 2011 with the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon, offers a total prize fund of £55,000 for British runners based on their four best scores across the five events. The first 250 British male and female finishers in each race score points.
In addition, time bonus points will be awarded at each of the five races.
Following round one, there are 250 men and 250 women on the score board with points ranging from Dave Webb’s 350 points (250 for winning in Reading plus 100 for breaking 65 minutes) to John Thorpe and Jennifer Mussett, who both have one point for finishing 250th man and 250th woman respectively.
Bristol 10k took place for the first time in 2008 and a record entry – almost 11,000 runners – lined up 12 months ago where Kenyan athletes scored a double victory with course records for both Gordon Mugi (28:29) and Edith Chelimo (32:53). British winners in 2010 were Andy Vernon (29:12) and Faye Fullerton (33:03).
Following Bristol, the remaining runbritain Grand Prix events are:
BUPA London 10,000 (Monday 30 May)
Admiral Swansea Bay 10k (Sunday 25 September)
EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon (Sunday 23 October)
Although entries for Bristol are now closed, the organisers have kept places available for those who scored points at Reading. If you are already on the score board and would like to enter please email firstname.lastname@example.org without delay.
