Runbritain Grand Prix

The inaugural runbritain Grand Prix kicks off this weekend with Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 20 March.

The five-race series, which concludes in October 2011 with the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon, offers a total prize fund of £55,000 for British runners based on their four best scores across the five events. The first 250 British male and female finishers in each race score points.

In addition, time bonus points will be awarded at each of the five races.

The runbritain Grand Prix events are:

Entry for Reading Half Marathon closed at a capacity of 16,500 and the field includes 2008 women’s champion Liz Yelling, the current course record holder with a time of 69.35.

Patrick Makau holds the men’s course record with 61.19.

The action kicks off in Reading at 10am this Sunday and you can watch video highlights at 6pm on Monday 21 March on runbritain TV.

Following Reading, each individual race will apply its usual entry protocol, including fee and deadline dates, except that the following provision shall be made for runbritain Grand Prix entrants

  • Bristol-London-Swansea-Birmingham: entries up until 30 days before the event for up to 800 available places for those runners who have scored points in the preceding runbritain 2011 Grand Prix races, on a first-come-first-served basis
